Coastal Co. – My Review

Coastal Co. – My Review

Those who know me know that I do not like to shop. I know it’s weird, but it’s just who I am.

They also know that I love the beach and supporting worthy causes like protecting our marine environment or cleaning up beaches.

When I came across Coastal Co, now known as Beachly and read about their mission and company, it was like a match made in heaven.  They have a beautiful seasonal box full of beach-inspired goodies for 50% off retail and donate part of the proceeds from each box to Heal The Bay, which is a California based charity that works to clean the beaches and watersheds in the Los Angeles area.  The proceeds from the Coastal Co. donations go towards monthly beach cleanups in the L.A. area, what a fantastic way to give back and keep the beaches clean!

Being a native SoCal girl myself, I know first hand just how much the Heal The Bay program is needed as well as how much they have done to improve the L.A. watersheds and coastal areas.  Knowing that part of the sale of each box goes to help their fantastic program makes it even more worth the money, getting the beautiful products in the box is a bonus.

I was so honored when they reached out to me to collaborate with them on a product review for their Spring box.  I don’t think I have been so excited, waiting for a box to be delivered.  I was more excited than a child at Christmas!

I’m going to give you my honest opinion, like I have any other type, of each piece in the box along with the retail price.  If you follow along, you’ll be able to add up the value of the entire box to see just how much you save through their program.

The fact that I didn’t have to go out and shop for the products and they are all beach-inspired made me giddy like the first time I saw my husband!  That’s pretty darned giddy, trust me.

I love the box that the goodies are shipped in.  It’s a spring colored box that just screams “fun inside”!  I also love their hashtag #Beacheveryday!  That is me, beachy every day!  From tanks to shorts to flipflops, that’s my entire wardrobe when the weather is warm, some of what comes in the Spring collection.

I’m getting a little ahead of myself here, that’s how excited I am about the products!  Let’s get back to the basics and how the Coastal Co. program works.

It all starts with your visit to their website at, where you choose either a Men’s or Women’s box.  You read that right. They have a box for Men or Women, is that awesome or what?

Once you choose your gender, you then join their service, and four times per year, they will send you approximately $200 worth of beach-inspired goodies for $99.    Each box contains 6 to 8 premium pieces of apparel, accessories & lifestyle products.  Who wouldn’t love that?  And they are fantastic products too; we’ll get to that in a minute!

Every three months, you get a new box full of seasonal, specially curated pieces delivered to your door.  Of course, as they say, “The Good Vibes Are Free”!   The best part is you can cancel at any time, without any hassle.  But once you get your first box of goodies, why would you ever want to cancel?

Now, let’s get into just exactly what you will get in the new Spring box!  I know that’s what you’ve been waiting for and screaming at your screen the entire time, “Shut up and tell me what’s in the box!”

I will say my favorite piece in the box has to be the exclusive Pipa Kimono by Saltwater Luxe ($75).  I love it because it can be used as a beautiful swimsuit coverup, tossed over a tank and pair of shorts, or for lounging around after a day of diving.  The color is a lovely neutral with a large floral print.  I have already used it several times as a quick cover-up after getting out of the bath.

To go with the beautiful kimono is the “Island Vibes” exclusive tank by Chaser and made the U.S.A valued at $48.  The tank is a deep blue, like the deepest part of the ocean, and made of 1oo% cotton, which is perfect as the temps start to warm up.  I will tell you that here in South Texas, we have already begun hitting 80-degree temps, so having this tank is perfect.  It’s an ideal weight and to keep me comfortable without being too heavy.

I also love the fact that it has the “shirttail” hem, so it’s flattering for pretty much everyone, and if I don’t want to wear it long, I can easily tie it in a knot for a sportier look.

Of course, what would a box full of beach-inspired goodies by without a great pair of flip flops?  I love flip flops, I have several pair, and I live in them when the temps warm-up.  When we travel, they are what I wear to the airport.  When we go to beach destinations, they are all I pack and wear!  So when I found a pair of Havaianas flip flops in the box ($26), I was so excited.

While they may not be all blinged out and have a heel or fancy color, they are perfect for slipping on and running out the door or chilling on the beach!  They have a slim sole and straps, so when I’m walking around in the sun, I don’t get the dreaded “flip flop tan” on my feet.  Well, I will get a slight one, but nothing like I would get with a huge strap covering my foot.

While I’ve never been a huge fan of plain thin-soled flip flops, I love these.  They are lightweight and quite comfortable for kicking around the house or outside.  I can’t wait to wear them to Curacao in May and see how they perform there.

Now, I’ve talked about the three wardrobe items in the box, and they are all amazing!  Each has it’s own great qualities and merits and will be taking a trip with me in May (watch for those IG posts).  Let’s move on to the other items in the box, yes Virginia, THERE IS MORE!

Who doesn’t love a great makeup bag or tote for toiletries?  I know that I have a slight obsession with travel bags, and the last thing I need is another bag to put toiletries or makeup brushes in, but I love the bag included in this box!

Vagabond Goods has included their Bali Palm Bikini Bag ($28), and it makes me want to jump on a plane and get to the islands NOW!  The beautiful floral print on the bag is enough to inspire anyone to hit the beach.  It’s big enough to hold 1, or maybe even two bikinis if that’s your thing, or it would also make a perfect makeup and brush bag, depending on how much you take, of course.

For me, it’s going to be my toiletry bag since I don’t wear or take makeup when we go to the beach.  I’m going to throw one of the other products from the box into it for the trip as well if I have any left by the time we leave.

Cocovit Coconut Water Hydro Mist ($16) is something that here in Texas, we can all benefit from.  With the heat and humidity, our skin can get downright glowing for all the wrong reasons.  Cocovit conditions and tones and is enriched with antioxidants, all while feeling light on the skin.  I love how it makes my skin feel already and how it helps minimize my pores and helps improve the tone of my skin.  Not to mention, it has the most fantastic scent, like being at the islands.

One thing that I wish so desperately I could keep is the Silver Wave ring by Kolohe Ocean Gems from Hawaii ($15).  Because I have an allergy to silver, I am unable to wear it, but I love the wave shape, and it would be a great pointer finger ring or a cute toe ring.  That’s where I would wear it if I could, as an awesome toe ring.

Someone I know may very well be getting a gift from me – hint hint!  One thing I will say about the ring is it is not a hefty piece of sterling.  It also does not come size-specific, so you have to open or close it to fit it accordingly, which may not suit some people, but I still do love the design.

Finally, we come to the last item in the box, and I’m not entirely sure how to use it just yet, but that’s what Google search is for, right?  Laguna Salt Company Paradise Salt Duo ($19).  Handcrafted in California, hooray for Cali, this Hawaiian Black Sea Salt and Sweet Hibiscus Sea Salt will be used in my kitchen for sure just as soon as I figure out how to incorporate it into a dish.

Both are all-natural, non-GMO, and gluten-free.  All good things for my new diet and healthier lifestyle!

The Sweet Hibiscus has a wonderful aroma that I can’t wait to add to a dish.  I’m already having ideas of using it on fish, chicken, in salads, and who knows where else.

And there you have it!  If you’ve been following along and adding everything up, that’s $227 worth of fantastic beach-inspired goodies for $99.  So, when Coastal Co. says you are getting 50% off or more off, they mean it!

I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by not only the selection and variety of products but also the quality.  The pieces are well thought out, and I love that so many come from the U.S.A.   I’m all about supporting products made here, so having them in the collection is a bonus.

I love all the pieces in the collection, and if this is any indication of what’s to come, I can’t wait to sign up and get the summer box, I’m sure it’s going to be AMAZING!

It is well worth the investment of $99 per season.  That’s only $33 per month or way less than the cost of a latte per day, and you’ll have way more than a coffee buzz and calories to show for it!

I love the kimono it’s so pretty, I’m such a big fan of those as well, makes it easy just to chuck something over the top at th beach or something! Also the ring is super cute!

    1. Hi Chloe! It’s a wonderful company and the products are so well curated. I love the fact that they support Heal the Bay and give back to help the environment. I can’t wait to see what the Summer box contains. I’m hooked for sure!

  2. i am so glad you found something that works for you.
im always nervous about using things that say are water resistant or waterproof.
i had sports watch once that said it could be under the water at a certain depth and it will still work, i by accidentally dropped it in the bathtub, and it never worked again.

    1. I have had some not so favorable experiences in the past with products as well. We had such an experience on our trip to Curacao recently but fortunately, we bounced back and didn’t let it ruin our trip.
